With her personal highlights so this year, such as being hand-picked by Snoop Dogg to join him on stage during the YouTube Brandcast in May 2013 Niykee has maintained her songwriting regimen despite the hectic recent years. The songwriting process is a source of inspiration for aspiring producers. Niykee is always listening to beats and finds many which spark thoughts. She says that she can discern if a beat is a good one in less than 5 minutes. And then, a brand new song will pop into her head. When I sit at my front porch, playing guitar, lyrics will flow and are usually written in fewer than thirty minutes. Niykee continues to develop her skills as a poet and lyrics writer. She notes how the pain she experienced during her childhood has served as an infinite sources of inspiration. Even when I'm not writing in a literal way about what has occurred to me, the pain of my childhood and loss of my sister in being integrated into my music she says. The music I write is inspired by my experiences and I am able to see the bigger picture beneath everything. It's among the things that is most important to me.
