She was initially inspired by the shadows that were cast onto grass. After a few weeks she devised a process that did not render the chosen object on the canvas as an unflat image. The subject is a mirror of itself, and the canvas carries an interpretation by painting of the object, especially when it's a live item or something perishable, like people or fruit. Alexa's style of painting exhibits a hazy quality the only thing left of Alexa Meade's art is her photographs. Photography and painting are tightly together to produce two-dimensional flat surface which is trompe l'oeil. In certain places, the three-dimensional space can be observed, such as around the eye or on the hair. Meade has also integrated her models painted by Meade into the 3-dimensional space around them. Interaction between them and this created world can be achieved. Thereby repealing the boundaries between painting, photography, performance and installation.
