Katy Perry..........................Katy Perry original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, (born October 25 1984 Santa Barbara California U.S.) American pop singer who gained fame for a string of anthemic and often sexually suggestive hit songs as well as for a playfully cartoonish sense of style. Perry's initial efforts at mainstream stardom were fruitless with two separate record labels signing but then removing her prior to the release of any music. Capitol Records however released Perry's EP Ur So Gay in 2007. The title track was a jolly and sly single that garnered little or no notice. The song I Kissed a Girl was a more bold ode to sexism that was with a sharp edged electro-pop style. A few critics accused it of promoting homosexual relationships however others suggested that the song's raunchy lyrics were designed to attract men with fantasies. I Kissed A Girl's mix of titillation, polished melody and an enthralling chorus made the song become a top 10 hit across multiple countries. This led to the album of the same name of the Boys (2007) which was a huge success. Hot N Cold, Perry's energetic and sharply-tongued record with the song that was its second biggest hit became a huge hit. The album which Perry composed by herself sold more than three million copies.
